Meriton, Australia’s largest residential apartment builder, is responding to a 230% increase in the numbers of cyclists on Sydney streets over the last two years by rolling out generous bicycle facilities at new developments.
With a focus on the health and environmental benefits of cycling, Meriton now includes convenient on-site bicycle storage for those who choose the pedal as their means of transport.
With new bike paths being unveiled throughout Sydney, more people are getting on their bikes and riding to wherever they need to go, whether they are commuting to work or going out for brunch, said Meriton spokesperson.
As more Sydneysiders start cycling, we have embraced the benefits and want to encourage our residents to do the same.
The rising price of fuel coupled with new bike lanes suggests that a shift to alternative forms of commuting is happening at a fast pace. Meriton is driving the change, supplying 268 bicycle spots at its upcoming ‘Tribeca’ development in Waterloo, 131 at ‘VSQ North’, Zetland, 156 at ‘Eon’, Zetland, 98 at ‘Oceanvale’, Warriewood, 90 at ‘Alcove’, St Ives, and more than 380 at Meriton’s recently announced development in Pagewood in Sydney’s east.
At many sites, these are accompanied by shower and changeroom facilities for busy cyclists on the go.
A lack of bicycle parking has been a common frustration for apartment dwellers in Sydney to date.
