Meriton hits the mark with Trilogy at Mac Park
27 March 2025
It doesn’t matter which way you are driving on the M2 motorway in Sydney, you can’t miss it. Trilogy by Meriton at Macquarie Park. Three towers, 39, 45 and 59 levels, under construction and heading skywards on a lush island site beside the expansive native green wonderland of the Lane Cove National Park.
Trilogy, when completed, will be the tallest residential development in Macquarie Park and one of the tallest in Australia, almost the same height as Meriton’s iconic World Tower.
“When I first started building over 60 years ago, there was no Macquarie Park,” founder and managing director of Meriton, Harry Triguboff says.
“The whole area was known as North Ryde and I started building around that area very early because it was affordable and still very close to the city.
“This area has grown enormously over the years and it is now one of the biggest growth areas in Sydney,” he says.
In the mid-1960s, based on the concept of ‘Silicon Valley’ in the United States, where a high-tech industrial area surrounds Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, the construction of Macquarie University commenced and industry started to move in.
It is now one of the biggest high-tech hubs in Australia and home to many huge tech companies. It is the number one postcode for intellectual property registrations in Australia with tech geniuses keen to get their ideas and trademarks legally recognised.
“Even long before Macquarie Park was gazetted as a separate suburb from North Ryde in 1999, it was already its own identity with the Macquarie Shopping Centre opening to huge fanfare in 1981,” Mr Triguboff says.
“Macquarie University Hospital was then built and treated its first patient in 2010.
“Now with the new Sydney Metro Station servicing Macquarie Park, you could want for nothing. It has now become prime residential real estate in a perfect location,” he says.
One country couple who recently bought at Trilogy had never considered Macquarie Park and were only looking at apartments on the Lower North Shore, just 10 minutes from Trilogy.
“Long term, we will probably come back to Sydney to retire, but for now both our kids are studying at Macquarie University and we wanted to buy something they could live in now and we could use later down the track,” the buyer said.
“We had never actually considered buying at Macquarie Park until one of our friends suggested we go and have a look. We didn’t really know the area. We had been to the university a couple of times but we saw it more as a commercial area than residential.
“For what we wanted to pay on the Lower North Shore, we knew we would have to compromise on a smaller two-bedroom unit in an older-style building with parking for one car and no outlook.
“At Trilogy, we had the choice of brand new, over-sized three-bedroom units, with double parking and never-to-be-built-out views of the Lane Cove National Park and through to the city skyline.
“So, we ended up with an extra bedroom, an extra parking spot and fabulous views for the same money we wanted to spend on the Lower North Shore and we are still only 15 minutes from the city.
“More importantly, everything is right there on the doorstep,” she says.
The university is 350 metres away, Macquarie Shopping Centre the same distance and the Macquarie University Hospital even closer and if you want to go anywhere, the Metro station is also minutes away.
With an Indoor heated pool and spa, gym and sauna, landscaped gardens and BBQ facilities, you never have to leave Macquarie Park.
In a market that has picked up after only one interest rate cut, most of the apartments at Trilogy are selling to owner-occupiers across a broad demographic.
“It’s not surprising,” Mr Triguboff said.
“This lifestyle suits so many people. Those upsizing, those downsizing, professionals that work with the tech giants and doctors that work at the hospital. There are, of course, investors but most are owner-occupiers and, I am very pleased to say, we have quite a few first home buyers.
“It’s an investment for life. For many, there will be no reason to move, ever. Everything you could ever want or need is within a five-minute drive or a short walk.
“Most importantly, you are getting the highest-tech design to fit into your surrounds. Not only do we maximise the stunning views and harness the natural sun through floor to ceiling glass, we have the highest-tech acoustically engineered glazing to ensure the most comfortable living experience.
“Trilogy is Meriton’s own tech showcase incorporating what the biggest tech companies around us are doing in relation to design, acoustics, telecommunications, security and more.
“It’s very cool, very comfortable, captivating living. It is the perfect example of futuristic living where life has never offered such convenience, quality and state-of-the-art technology while being surrounded by some of the best views Sydney has to offer.
“Why would you not see this as the perfect lifestyle,” he says.
